The "Labs Are Vital™" Scholarship Contest

Labs Are Vital™, the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS), the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL), and Blood Systems, Inc., challenged students to put a creative twist on their career goals through the Labs Are Vital Scholarship Contest. Through imaginative print advertisements, T-shirt designs, and videos, students found creative ways to encourage others to consider careers in laboratory science, illustrating why clinical lab science is cutting-edge, cool, and can really make a difference in the lives of patients and entire communities!

To participate, students submitted a print advertisement, T-shirt design, or video in one of the following categories:

• Clinical labs
• Public health labs
• Blood centers

Contest winners and runners-up were awarded the following prizes:

• First-place video winners in each category received a $2,500 scholarship
• First-place advertisement and T-shirt design winners in each category received a $1,000 scholarship
• Second-place video, advertisement, and T-shirt design winners in each category received an iPhone®
